Travel advice - Channel Islands

On the 31 March 2009 the Reciprocal Health Agreement between the UK and Channel Islands governments ended.

Under this reciprocal agreement, residents of the UK mainland or Channel Islands had been eligible to receive free medical treatment. From 1 April 2009, only emergency treatment in Accident and Emergency will be provided free of charge.

Therefore, from 31 March 2009 onwards UK residents travelling to (or passing through) the Channel Islands and Channel Island residents travelling to (or passing through) the UK will require medical insurance cover.

We recognise the importance of providing emergency medical expense cover to UK residents travelling for business and holidays to the Channel Islands and to Channel Island residents travelling for business and holidays to the UK and our policy will continue to provide this cover with effect from 1 April 2009.

For further information on our product range and for a competitive quote please
contact us on 0844 482 0808

Please Note: Travel Insurance is not a substitute for a Private Medical Insurance policy and will not provide cover for elective treatment or for those referred to the UK for specialist treatment. Our Travel Insurance policy is designed to provide cover in the event of an unforeseen bodily injury or illness occurring whilst on a holiday or business trip outside your home country.
